Neuropsychology Program Description

The Neuropsychology Program in the Children’s Services Department provides assessment and diagnosis for children aged 3-18 years of age with diverse medical, and neurodevelopmental disorders. We provide services to children and adolescents, both as inpatients and outpatients. A typical assessment involves administration of neuropsychological and psychological tests, record review, and an extensive interview with the primary caretaker and the patient if possible. The purpose of neuropsychological testing is to answer particular referral questions and concerns. Some common referral questions involve assisting with medical or psychological diagnosis, obtaining information that will assist in medical, educational, and behavioral planning, collecting baseline data on cognitive and/or behavioral functioning, and/or determining whether the child may qualify for special programs or assistance.
